Post Meet Analysis --- Glen Oaks

Good (Late) Morning/ (Early) Afternoon -

WOW – what a great the job swimmers did last night. I could not be prouder of their performance. Parents/volunteers, you all did an amazing job as well.

As I said before, please do not base your child’s times last night versus the times they swam at Woodhaven. Our pool is MUCH LONGER.

For last night’s meet, we were not able to use the new Swimmingly Computer system because Glen Oaks is NOT on that system. Therefore, you were not able to see times through the Swimmingly FAN app. For our meet on Monday versus Lake Forest, we will be using Swimmingly. I realize that using different technology platforms is confusing/frustrating, but the rest of the meets will use Swimmingly so we will get more comfortable with that.

THANK YOU

  • Thank you for your frequent visits to the concession stand. Our sales were phenomenal
  • Thank you for having your kids at the meet for warm-ups on time. That is critically important
  • Thank you for being there to help with all of the organizational aspects and to cheer on your swimmers

SNAFUS from your President --- my Mea Cupla

  • With this being the first home meet in two years, things were a bit chaotic for me. I’ll work harder to make certain things run smoother at our meet Monday
  • We’ve ordered a replacement Start System Microphone to replace the one that broke during the second half of the meet
  • We are working to resolve the issue with both the pool lights and the flood lights behind the starters. Sorry to all the timers and Age Group Parents who had to work the Free Relay in the relative dark
  • The ducks invading the pool was funny, but beyond my control. As powerful as I am, I do not control the behavior of waterfowl. In fact, I have a fear of all birds
  • I realize you are being inundated with numerous messages from numerous sources (myself, Coach Bailey, Brooke, etc). Going forward, we will work to have those communications delivered from one primary source
  • BEEF O’BRADY’S -Please accept my apologies on not being able to go to Beef O’Brady’s post-meet. I know this is an Owl Creek tradition, and trust me, I could have used a beer after last night. After the Woodhaven meet last, we provided them with a schedule of all of our swim meets and told them we would be up there after each meet (approximately 9:30 PM). I failed to follow up communicate with them yesterday afternoon and confirm that we would be there. That’s on me. I’ll speak with them today
  • Despite things that went wrong, Glen Oaks President did say that last night was the best meet they’d had all year (although this was just their second, but I’m taking whatever compliments we get)

APPAREL

  • Some of you have received your OC Swim apparel. For those who have not, I’ll work to get that distributed to you this weekend

WHAT LIES AHEAD

  • We have a quick turnaround with our next meet being on Monday. As Coach Bailey said yesterday, we will be having a Saturday morning stroke clinic for swimmers beginning tomorrow. THIS IS NOT MANDATORY. If you do plan to send your child, please be aware that there is a $5 cost per swimmer associated with attendance. Coach Bailey and I will send out times later today.

Have a great weekend.

Regards,

Kyle Dawkins
