Good Morning OC,

I just wanted to say what a great job the swimmers did last night at our first meet in nearly two years! I hope all of you had as much fun as I did. 

The swim coach and some Woodhaven volunteers made a point to come up to me after the meet and tell me how well-behaved our kids were (adults too) and that they really enjoyed hosting Owl Creek. That's great to hear!

Regarding the meet, Owl Creek won comfortably, but I do not have the final point-tally. I have attached the RESULTS, and will also post them on the SwimTopia site. I'm certain the coaches will go over this with the kids, but I wanted to make you all aware of this as well.

• The Woodhaven pool is listed as 25 YARDS, although I think it is shorter than that. The Owl Creek pool is 25 Meters (I found this out the hard way, i.e. lane lines). So a 25 YARD pool, which we swan in last night, is about 7 feet shorter than our pool. So if at our next meet (a home meet) your child swims a slower time, do not be surprised.
• If your child was Disqualified (DQ'd) from an event last night, do not panic. They are learning and it is not a big deal at all. The coaches will work with them. Olympic swimmers get DQ'd. Even historically-great swimmers, such as myself (kidding), get DQ'd (Illiana Swim Conference Championships Summer of 1990 via a terrible backstroke ruling that cost me a High Point Trophy, (still bitter) but I digress).

• I know this is new to most of us, and integrating a new system is difficult, but if you have not downloaded the SWIMMINGLY FAN app, I strongly recommend you doing so. It gives almost instantaneous results and is a great way to keep up with the meet

AFTER THE SHOW, IT'S THE AFTER PARTY

• I was delinquent in sending this out in advance, but after all meets, you are welcome and encouraged to visit Beef O'Brady's at the corner of Shelbyville Road/Blankenbaker. Last night was the first time I'd attended, and I will certainly be back. Thanks to Josh Richardson for calling and giving them the heads up

PRACTICE TODAY

• We will hold afternoon practices today. Per usual, the morning after meets, we do not have practices (let the kids sleep in), but we will be back in the water (weather pending) this afternoon.
