11 & Under Swimmers

Good Afternoon Swim Team Members and Parents,

I am excited to announce that we have worked it out an arrangement that will permit swim team members 11 & younger an opportunity to lap swim under the supervision of our coaches. This will NOT require you to pay a registration fee (at least for the time being).

Before I get into the bulleted points, I cannot stress enough that we MUST adhere to these guidelines. Please, please please assist us in making certain that we can continue to provide these kids with an exercise outlet, but with safety remaining our primary objective.

GENERAL INFO

  • Health forms must be signed by a parent for each swimmer (these will be available at the gate). These need to be completed each day the child swims. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • A Sign-Up Genius will be sent out later this evening (hopefully). I am still searching for some additional personal protective equipment (PPE) and making certain that I have addressed a few other details
  • Once this lap swimming starts (and we are hoping for tomorrow) - beginning at 8 AM, there will be five (5) time slots each morning (Monday thru Friday), each lasting 25 minutes
  • 5 time slots x 6 lanes x 5 days = 150 time slots per week
  • Based on 2019 figures, we had 127 swimmers. 76 of those swimmers were 10&U, therefore each swimmer will have the opportunity to sign up 2x per week
  • If we do have a good response – and the coaches are willing, there is a possibility that we open lanes on Saturday and Sunday mornings as well

PARENTS

  • Parents will NOT be allowed on the pool deck, unless it is absolutely necessary
  • Please do not congregate outside the pool area (especially if your swimmer has a sibling swimming) since we are not allowed groups larger than 10
  • Please keep other children off the playground
  • The bathrooms will remain closed (unless an absolute emergency) because they are required to be cleaned after each person uses them

SWIMMERS

  • Given the lane constraints, time slots will NOT be based on the swimmers age (so we may have a 7-year-old swimming in a lane next to an 11-year-old)
  • Swimmers MUST arrive early so that they enter the water precisely when their time slot beings
  • Swimmers MUST exit the water immediately at the conclusion of their lap session

COACHES

  • One coach will provide instruction; one coach will be in the lifeguard chair and one will be at the swim gate signing in swimmers and checking temperatures
  • Coaches will NOT be allowed in the water with swimmers
  • Coaches will have complete jurisdiction to remove a swimmer from the water
  • Coaches will be responsible for wiping down touch points (ladders, table) after the sessions

The Sign Up Genius will be sent out once we have confirmed that we have all necessary items (equipment) in place.

Thank you,

Kyle Dawkins, Owl Creek Swim Team President
